In our busy lives, we are increasingly geared to convenience. You may not want to go out again after a busy day’s work, you may want to take your instrument on holiday with you and practise the violin while away, or you may live too far from a teacher to make lessons viable. These are just a few of the many reasons why our clients opt for violin lessons online.
Our mission is to help you develop your playing and inspire you to get better on your instrument. Whatever your musical goals, whether you play casually or learn to play more seriously, we are here to help you with your bowing, left hand technique and anything else you want to learn. Tell us about your playing or send us your photos – we would love to hear from you.
If you are a complete beginner, we recommend that you start with our violin for beginners video series. This is a course of lessons for starters, containing lectures as well as play along tracks, which will set you up properly for the rest of your learning journey.
If you are looking to expand from the basics and develop your playing further, please use the drop-down menu at the top of this page and click on videos. You will find downloadable video lessons here, arranged by playing level. All videos coloured green are for beginners, all videos coloured blue are for improvers, and all videos coloured orange are for advanced players.
If you are looking for matching repertoire to play, please download the Repertoire Lists, each of which will give you many suggestions for music to play at each level. Again, the Repertoire Lists are colour-coded, so that it is easy to find music that matches your playing level.
For individual feedback on your playing, do consider our Skype lessons, which can be arranged at a time to suit you, in your own home. On the Skype lesson page, you will find a bookable calendar, so it is easy to spot free lesson slots. All abilities are catered for: whether you are a complete beginner or ready to hit the concert stage, you can rely on Pro-Am Strings to offer encouragement and support. If you cannot find a time to suit your schedule, please email us, and we will try to help if we can.
Recently, we have added video exchange lessons to our campus of online materials. You can send us a video of your playing, we will assess your playing and send you a video back, containing constructive suggestions on how you might improve your playing.
About twice a month, we offer free online violin classes about selected technique subjects. We call these classes Webinars. People from all over the world join from their computers and often, lively discussions emerge. You too are welcome to join in with your instrument and be as visible or as anonymous as you wish! From January 2018, we have been hosting these classes in the Fans of Pro-Am Strings Facebook page. Make sure you join us there!
To gain a quick overview of current events, please check out our Whats on @ Pro-Am Strings page.
Pro-Am Strings has a global network of Associate Teachers, who teach online with us, but who also provide locally based tuition on violin or viola. All are friendly and approachable people and experts in their field.
We hope you enjoy browsing this site. Please note that we now offer a free trial, at which we meet you on Skype, via FaceTime or by telephone and help you find what you are looking for. We look forward to hearing from you and wish you all the best on your musical journey.
